A national awareness initiative focused on women’s well-being has wrapped up its second day in Muscat, drawing strong participation from students, healthcare professionals, and international partners. The campaign, titled “Walking the Wave,” aims to promote women’s health across all stages of life, with a strong emphasis on prevention, early diagnosis, and healthier lifestyles.
Launched on February 13 in Al Mouj, the initiative is being led by medical students under the umbrella of Sultan Qaboos University and National University of Science and Technology Oman. The campaign is organized in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund and supported by the Ministry of Health Oman, alongside local medical institutions.
Focus on Awareness and Access to Care
Organizers say the campaign is designed to create a safe and open platform where women of all ages and backgrounds can discuss health concerns freely. The initiative also seeks to connect women with specialized medical services available across the country.
Key topics addressed during the two-day program include breast cancer, cervical cancer, reproductive health conditions, menopause, and safe pregnancy practices. Health professionals provided educational sessions and guidance on early screening and preventive care.
Ministry of Health Showcases Services
Representatives from the Ministry of Health used the platform to highlight the range of women’s health services available at primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare institutions. Demonstrations and informational sessions were held to help attendees better understand how and where to access medical support.
Youth Participation at the Core
The United Nations Population Fund expressed pride in supporting the student-led initiative, emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in advancing public health awareness. Medical students from various institutions worked alongside ministry officials to promote the campaign’s message and encourage community involvement.
Strengthening Women’s Empowerment
The two-day program reflects Oman’s ongoing commitment to empowering women through education, healthcare awareness, and community collaboration. By placing prevention and open dialogue at the center of the discussion, organizers hope the campaign will lead to long-term improvements in women’s health outcomes nationwide.
As “Walking the Wave” concludes its second day, organizers say the momentum built during the event will continue through future outreach programs and partnerships aimed at strengthening women’s well-being across the country.
